Today, an awareness programme on **“Safety Precautions During Floods”** was conducted in our school. The students were informed about the important safety measures to be followed during a flood.
**Important Safety Precautions During Floods:**
* **Do not panic** and remain calm and alert.
* **Follow the instructions of the authorities**
and emergency services.
* **Stay away from floodwater** as it may be deep, dirty, or dangerous.
* **Keep away from electric poles, electric wires and open/live wires** to avoid electric shock.
* **Never attempt to walk or swim through flowing water**, as strong currents can sweep a person away.
* **Drink only clean and safe drinking water** to prevent water-borne diseases.
* **Keep food properly covered** and avoid consuming contaminated food.
* **Carry essential medicines and first-aid supplies** during an emergency.
* **Move to a safe place or higher ground when instructed by the authorities.**
* **Stay informed and remain alert** to weather warnings and official announcements.
The programme helped the students understand the importance of **staying calm, alert and safe during a natural disaster**. It also encouraged them to follow proper safety precautions and help others responsibly during flood emergencies.
